I stay at this hotel for one night and it is one of the best budget hotel I stayed so far. Firstly, the rates are extremely reasonable, so reasonable till I tried Deluxe room instead of Standard room. Room condition was good as the water heater was working, air con cold, tv able to watch quite a number of channels clearly. I order mee goreng for room service and the price was value for money!
The hotel staff spoke good English too.
This hotel is located only few metres away from Lucy Oar House and many other pubs. Good hotel location for clubbers!
There are a few night markets nearby which sells dvds and other miscellaneous items like handphones and gadgets.
You bet I will stay at Grand Palace Hotel again!!!

Hotel Grand Palace is the best hotel i ever stay in Batam. i feel comfortable, safe, luxury and many more. i feel like staying in western hotel. I like Hotel Grand Palace. go go go.. :D

I agree with Scott, Grand palace is a good value budget hotel, breakfast suits the locals, but a good one is just 30m away at Lucy's, rooms are clean showers good as is the TV. In my opinion it is the best value in Batam and if they have room, I will stay there on the 3rd and 4th of January 2010, in a deluxe room, should be more like it!

I've stayed at Hotel Grand Palace a few times and it is probably the best budget hotel in Batam. I've stayed in some of the others and they are not so good. Hotel Grand Palace is right in the centre of Batam, right next to the Nagoya entertainment district and lots of restaurants and money changers. The bathrooms have western toilet and plenty of hot water for showers. The TV's work well with international channels. The beds are a bit hard though I still slept ok in them.
